AISL: Association Internationale de l'oeuvre du docteur Albert Schweitzer de Lambaréné
The AISL - the international association - was founded to maintain Schweitzer’s system of co-ordination of the local fellowships. It is located in Günsbach and follows the French law. Initially the AISL was also responsible for the hospital. This responsibility is now taken by the FISL - Fondation Internationale de l’Hôpital du Dr. Albert Schweitzer à Lambaréné . The AISL owns the house in Günsbach and the archives, and runs the museum. For the AISL it is very important to maintain the international relations between the local fellowships and to send out the ideas and the spiritual work of Schweitzer - reverence for life - all over the world. This Internet Server is only one of our efforts! If you want to know more about the work and ideas of Albert Schweitzer, please contact us or your national Fellowship. |

Albert Schweitzer always organized help from around the world himself, and saw to it that he got the medicines for his patients and anything else when he needed it. In 1949, to ensure that help for the hospital would be maintained after his death, fellowships were founded in Switzerland and other countries around the world.
