The president of the American Fellowship, Dr. Lachlan Forrow, has hade the idea
to commemorate the first appeal against atomic armament the 23. April 1957. Many
concerts around we world will be given at 4.00 pm on Sunday 22 April . You can

your friends and help us to stop together with other organizations to stop the
foolish armament in our world.

The council of the Hospital foundation has choosen Mr. Denis PIRLOT de
CORBION as the new director of the hospital in Lambaréné. We wish him a good
start.

The hospital foundation is looking for a new auditor for our accountancy. If
your association is in the France, Gabon, Germany, Switzerland or the United
States you can send your offer until the 21th of October 2002 to the president
of the hospital foundation. The documents you need are:

The new bulletin of the AISL is online. It is in pdf - format and you can have
it in format A4 as bulletin-A4 or in format A5 to print a small
booklet. The text are in German and French.

We are all shocked about the horrible terror-attack against New York and
Washington. We couldn't believe that men can do something like this.
"The
ethic of "Reverence for life" is good, as its aim is, to preserve and
promote life. All destruction and damaging of life, in whatever conditions it
takes place, is evil".
But we are also worried that the reactions to such an inhuman act could be an eye for an eye. "Acts of retaliation" are counter-terrorism without any gain for mankind. On the contrary they would step up the spiral of hate to dreadful height. And however we have to act! Protect life, protect and conserve it.
The German Albert-Schweitzer-Association wrote an open letter to the German Chancellor to ask him to be careful and to respect the ethic of "Reverence for Life". Why don't you write a similar letter to your President or Chancellor?

Richard Brüllmann
The President of the AISL, Richard Brüllmann, died the 13th March 2001 in
Thun, Switzerland. Richard Brüllmann knew very well the work and ethic of
Albert Schweitzer. Wiht him , the Schweitzer Family lost a very important
personality.

Hermann Mai
In the very old age of 99 years, a friend and pediatrician died in Munster,
Germany . Prof. Mai helped the hospital in Lambaréné during hard times in the
1970th.

Luigi Grisoni
In Como died th 10th March our friend Luigi Grisoni. He was a profound
authority of the work of Schweitzer and published several books on Schweitzer,
his work, his hospital and the ethic.
